Help at Home acquires Ohio-based Prime Home Care
A Warren County-headquartered home health agency has been acquired by an out-of-state peer as the latter company marks its first entry into Ohio.
Prime Home Care, headquartered in Maineville, a provider of skilled and nonskilled care services in nine Ohio locations throughout the Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Mansfield and Toledo regions, has been acquired by Chicago-based Help at Home, a national provider of in-home care for seniors.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Help at Home’s expansion into Ohio is a first for the company and is part of its overall growth strategy. Help at Home provides services in 13 states overall.
“We believe we can add value, enabling more individuals to age in place in their homes,” Help at Home President Tim O’Rourke said in a release.
Prime Home Care, founded in 2006, serves approximately 900 clients in the state. Many of its leadership team will stay, Help at Home said.
Prime Home Care’s former board chairman Owen Schnaper said the acquisition came as the company started to contemplate the next step in its strategic plan. Help at Home, he said, quickly became the ideal fit.
“Their service-oriented approach will enable better outcomes for our clients and a more robust career path for our team members,” Schnaper said.
Help at Home provides in-home, community-based care to 67,000 clients in states including Pennsylvania, Georgia, Indiana, Missouri, Michigan and more. The company employs around 30,000.
Help at Home’s acquisition of Prime Home Care is its fourth since July. The company acquired Pennsylvania-based Meridius Health and Georgia-based Altamaha HomeCare’s nonskilled business in September and Community Care Systems Inc. in Illinois over the summer.
Help at Home is backed by New York private equity firm Centerbridge Partners and Chicago investment firm Vistria Group.
